Medical and Health Infotainment for Kids
Dr. Stephen Eskin, M.D. is also known as the RocDoc
Born in Detroit Michigan, his earliest experiences were defined through music, with his mom a music teacher and his dad a Cantor. His first instruments were voice, drums, and later piano and guitar.
His musical nature however, is best defined by songwriting.
"My Dad was fifty when I was born, with exertional angina and overweight, making him unable to play catch with me. I felt so helpless, so, as children do, I promised to do anything I could to make him feel better, like becoming a doctor. I guess I'm not much good at breaking promises, so a doctor I became".
It was during medical school when he first noticed the cognitive benefits of music
Dr. Eskin began the RocDoc program in 1998 within the New York City Public School system, mainly to promote children's health literacy.
